Time management-Improvement of time management Skills

What are some specific steps you might take to improve your time management and time management Skills?

Time management is a commonly known as a sense method of managing the most important resource you have, your time. It allows anyone to focus on the important tasks and problems by using a system that will allow you to make more effective use of your time. It is very important to develop effectual strategies for managing your time to steadiness the conflicting demands of time for study, leisure, earning money and job hunting. For effective time management, some basic skills including setting clear goals, breaking your goals down into discreet steps, and reviewing your progress towards goals are highly required for proper Action Planning. However, there are some other skills involved including prioritizing - focusing on imperative and significant tasks rather than those that are not important; organizing your work schedule; list making to remind you of what you need to do when; persevering when things are not working out and avoiding procrastination. There are three simple steps to improve time management and they are discussed below.

Step 1: Setting a plan for the day by listing of what I can realistically achieve during the day. This must be done before starting any work or assignment.

Step 2: When starting to complete the daily task it is always recommended to go with the most important one. However, priority based work is always preferred so that the worker can be relieved by completing the most important work

Step 3: In this step the scheduled works are needed to review at the end of the day. What did I get done? What can I do tomorrow to make my work more efficient and productive? It is important to update my tasks and to start a new list for the coming day with the unfinished tasks of today.

In the story Vera is the most active characters and she is the master story teller. At the end of the story she makes the readers confused.

In The Open Window, A new neighbor named Frampton Nuttel visits a young girl named Vera who entertains him with a ghost story of her aunts’ life. When he observes the "ghost" he leaves in a fright and we find out the girl (Vera) is just very good at making story. Frampton Nuttel is suffering from nervous problems and trying to spend some time in the countryside of Britain. In that storey the readers were in confusion until the last part was read. I really disliked the point that the readers did not understand the flow of the storey. However, it is also awkward that Vera was lying and confusing Nuttel when he has come to her to cure his nervous problem. On the other way, I liked the storey, as it has a very strong effect in the readers and they must be involved until it is not finished. It is one of those short stories, where one or two characters make the story a successful one.

THE OPEN WINDOW- Short story of H. H. MUNRO (SAKI)

Summary of THE OPEN WINDOW
H.H. Munro's (Saki) "The Open Window" brilliantly portrays how one's nerves affects his/her personality. As Framton embarks on a trip intended as a "nerve cure," he finds himself in an unfamiliar situation that ultimately has a negative effect on his seemingly nervous personality.

Plot: Frampton Nuttel goes through nervous problem condition and has gone to the countryside in order to cure his nerves has come to spend some time alone. His sister sets up introductions for him with a few members of the community. His first visit is to the Sappleton house where he meets fifteen-year-old Vera, the niece of Mrs. Sappleton. Vera keeps Nuttel company while he waits. Upon hearing that Nuttel has not met the Sappletons, Vera tells Nuttel some information about the family. Vera says that three years ago to the date, Mrs. Sappleton's husband and two younger brothers went on a hunting trip and never returned. Vera goes into detail about the clothes they were wearing, the dog that accompanied them, and the song that Mrs. Sappleton's brother sang upon their return. Vera says that her grief-stricken aunt watches out the window expecting their return. When Mrs. Sappleton enters, she tells Nuttel that she expects her husband and brothers to return at any moment. Nuttel listens, thinking that Mrs. Sappleton has in fact gone crazy. Suddenly, Mrs. Sappleton brightens as she tells Nuttel that they have returned. Nuttel turns only to see the "dead" hunters. He becomes frightened and leaves in a rush. Mrs. Sappleton doesn't understand Nuttel's strange behavior, but Vera replies that he is deathly afraid of dogs. Not until the end of the story does the reader realize that Vera has trick ed Mr. Nuttel. This is revealed with the last line of the story: "Romance at short notice was her [Vera's] specialty."

Fiction

What is Fiction

Fiction is the structure of any descriptive work that covenants, in part or in whole, with information that are not realistic, but rather, imaginary. On the other hand, non-fictions are those which can give true or false account of the subject on the question. They may be accurate or not, but they are not based on any imaginary idea or ethics. Poems, stories, plays, novels are the example of fictions but the newspaper stories, editorials, personal accounts, journal articles, textbooks, legal documents are the example of non-fictional work.

How Monro's writings' were influenced by?

How Monro's writings' were influenced by?

From my point of view Munro’s writings were influenced by his own life. Recalling his life biography, he was born in Akyab, Burma, on 18 December 1870. He was the son of Charles Augustus Munro who was an inspector general of Buma police. At the year of 1872, his mother passed away and after his mothers’ death he and his two siblings moved to England, where they were raised by their grandmother and an unmarried aunt.  Hector was influenced by his father and at the year of 1893, he joined the Colonial Burmese Military Police. He worked at Russia as correspondent of a news paper and in 1900, Munro's first book appeared: The Rise of the Russian Empire.  The short story named Storyteller was about an aunt who is traveling by train with her two nieces and a nephew; telling them some moralistic storey but cannot satisfy them. . Some people suspect that this is based on his unmarried aunt who lived at England with him. As he worked as a police officer and joined in World War I he has written lots of political articles.

Hector Hugh Munro or saki; The Short Story Writer

Saki
Hector Hugh Munro or saki; The Short Story Writer
Hector Hugh Munro or saki was a British writer known for his satirist and with a taste for the witty, mischievous and outrageous.  He is very mush well known for his short stories. Saki wrote most of his best work for newspapers such as the Westminster Gazette, Daily Express, Bystander, Morning Post and Outlook [1]. Munro was born in Akyab, Burma, then part of the British Empire, on 18 December 1870 [1]. He was the son of Charles Augustus Munro and Mary Frances Mercer [2]. Munro’s father was an inspector general of Buma police and retired at 1887. At the year of 1872, his mother passed away and after his mothers’ death he and his two siblings moved to England, where they were raised by their grandmother and an unmarried aunt.  Munro was educated at Pencarwick School in Exmouth, Devon and at Bedford School [2].  Hector was influenced by his father and at the year of 1893, he joined the Colonial Burmese Military Police. But unfortunately after two years later he returned to England due to the illness by malaria started his career as a journalist, writing for various publications in England.  In 1900, Munro's first book appeared: The Rise of the Russian Empire, a historical study modelled upon Edward Gibbon's The Decline and “fall of the Roman Empire” [2]. Munro worked as a foreign correspondent for The Morning Post in the Balkans, Russia and Paris from 1902 to 1908. He then returned to England to be settled. In the early 1900s, H. H. Munro began publishing collections of his witty, acerbic stories, often featuring recurring characters who parody Edwardian high society [3]. Munro continuously did his duty as a journalist and an author until World War I broke out in 1914. In the World War I, Munro joined the British Army Royal Fusiliers as an ordinary soldier at the age of 43. Munro was admitted at hospital for malaria, but returned to his battalion after an impending attack. Just days after leaving the hospital, H. H. Munro was killed by a German sniper. From various source it is found that the last word of H. H. Munro were "Put that bloody cigarette out”. Munro is considered as one of the best short story writers in the English language and his contributions in English literature are often remembered.

Short stories and drama

What is the differences between Short Stories and Drama?

Short stories and drama are dissimilar in many ways but they share many of the identical fundamentals. The prime variance is that drama is written for the stage and is dependent on the expertise of the actors to get the story across whereas the short story is told by the writer who is able to add his own explanation to the interchange and capable of telling the audience about the effect that happens and comments have on the characters; thus making sure that we know accurately what the writer is willing to inform us; something that is done by inference in the play. In addition, the drama must be performed but it is not always possible to do that. For example, if the writer of the drama tries to put a scene of swimming but if the actor or actress cannot swim then this scene is not possible to perform whereas the short story writer does not have any limit; he can put any idea on that, whatever he like. However, they both signify some feelings, life story, ideas and the views, just one need to be performed other’s needed to read.

Winston Churchill: Speech

Who was Churchill’s audience? Was it only the members of Parliament?

Answer: Winston Churchill delivered his speech entitled “Blood, Toil, Tears and Sweat" at May 13, 1940, after being the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Winston Churchill delivered his speech three days after he became Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. He served two terms as Prime Minister from May 1940 until July 1945 and from October 1951 until April 1955.  It is considered as one of the best speech that influenced the army. The speech was delivered at the house of parliament but, the audience was not the members of the Parliament. Because the statement was given at the beginning of the World War to influence the arms force of Great Britain so that they can take initiatives to face the Nazi’s of Germany with responsibility. I think Churchill’s audiences were not only the members of the parliament but also the British arm forces and the British citizens. It was all about inspiring the citizens and the arm forces regarding the world war and to declaring the condition of British government towards the world communities.

Gettysburg Address by President Abraham Lincoln

What does Lincoln’s use of outside sources tell you about the process of writing?

Answer:
The Gettysburg Address, a speech, delivered by President Abraham Lincoln during the American Civil War, is one of the most well-known and appreciated speeches in United States’ history. In this two minutes speech, Abraham Lincoln used secondary sources, information to make the speech the greatest and declaring a new birth of freedom and democracy. He begins with the iconic phrase "Four score and seven years ago," from the American Revolution of 1776; Lincoln made a clear connection between the founding principles of the United States and the civil war. Lincoln also used the reference of Chief Justice John Marshall's opinion, "The government of the Union . . . is emphatically and truly a government of the people. . . . Its powers are granted by them and are to be exercised directly on them, and for their benefit." to define the powers of the US people and their benefit. By citing the opinion of Mr. Marshall, he also tried to touch the US people they are supreme power of the government.

Role Model

My Role Model

A role model is someone in your life that influenced your life in a positive and sustainable way. He can help someone’s life to shape the future endeavor. They are someone who look for advice in a very tough condition and know that they will give me words of understanding. A role model is someone with whom I never feel discomfited talking my problems which will not be revealed to anyone about me. A role model can be a movie character, a teacher, a philosopher, a researcher, a family member or anyone who can inspire you to find the destination.
Generally, it is very difficult to define the role model. Typically, a role model is someone who is smart, honest, brave, tough, kind, considerate and fun. Not that every role model is perfect unless it is somebody out of a fairy-tale. Role models are people who may be exceptional in only one or two regions.
My hero is someone, dedicated to stop violence and make peace in the world, involved in research activities, engaged in social welfare and honest and trustworthy.
Prof. Dr. Jahir Bin Alam, the head of the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department, an author of lots of research journals, is my role model whom I do follow in my life and respect him very much.  Mr. Adnan Alam is a Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering Department, University of Science and Technology. He finished his doctorate from England in environmental engineering. Beyond his academic performance, he is a wonderful personality to follow, to admire and to dream to be like him. He was the supervisor of my undergraduate thesis and I found his very much helpful on that. Whenever I faced any problem regarding my research ideas, I found him very much cooperative and he gave me a lot of authentic and appropriate ideas of my thesis research.
Because of him, I got my own pathway to follow, my own destiny. He always made sure I do my best in whatever I do. Even though it might be hard or difficult Mr. Alam makes me do it. Mr. Jahir Bin Alam is the ideal role model for me because he is everything a role model should be, loving, funny, serious, honest, and nice to be around, and smart.
I wish him all the success in his future endeavor.

Gettysburg Address

What is  "Gettysburg Address"?

Personally I do prefer the "Gettysburg Address" which was delivered by Abraham Lincoln, on November 19, 1863. Because, it was delivered at the dedication of the cemetery in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, to touch the hearts of the states people. The speech was full of encouragement and feelings for the nation and the brave solders, living and dead, who struggled.  The speech also influenced the audience to live, to lead and to sustain rather contribute here to the unfinished work which they have. Linkon also cited believed that after the war, after the struggle, this nation will produce a new origin of freedom for the people of the state, by the people of the state.

Global Economy

The Global Economy; Perspective of Bangladesh
The global economy is based on economies of all of the world's countries, national economies, also seen as the economy of global society and national economies – as economies of local societies, making the global one. Today, the Worlds’ economy is not only based on the agriculture sectors but also on the other sectors like industrial sectors, arm forces, and natural resources etc. However, the conflict between the countries, technological capability, and geographical position of the countries make it even tougher to enter into the global market or open market.  The developing countries like Bangladesh, with less technological support, low GDP rate, high birth rate face a lot of difficulties compete with those technologically developed countries.  In the time of globalization the markets are open, and all the worlds’ population is the customer. For that reason, the more technologically developed business institutions, the more access towards the mass customer. Every business institutions need to get hooked into the global electronic grid (i. e. internet, web pages, ecommerce, etc.), as much of the worlds’ commerce and economic activity among developed countries is through these electronic forms. However, the free trade enlarges the opportunities for international trade; it also increases the threat of collapse for smaller companies that cannot compete globally.

Bangladesh is an agricultural country, with some three-fifths of the population engaged in farming [01]. The principal sources of foreign exchange are jute and tea. There are some other important agricultural products which are wheat, pulses, and sweet potatoes, oil seeds of various kinds, sugarcane, tobacco, and fruits such as bananas, mangoes, and pineapples. The economy of Bangladesh is a rapidly developing market-based economy [03]. Remittances from Bangladeshis working overseas, mainly in the Middle East, are the major source of foreign exchange earnings; exports of garments and textiles are the other main sources of foreign exchange earnings [02]. However, the ship building industries and cane cultivation is going to be a major force of growth.

The global economy or the open market hits the economy of Bangladesh in both senses. Firstly, job opportunities, especially for women, have been created by the country's garment industries. The garment industries are playing very important role in the women employment, job opportunities, and to increase the foreign remittance of the country because the global open market allows the garment industries to compete in the world market with the low cost labor. The domestic firms in Bangladesh are not enough efficient in production and not capable of competing in global level. The history of the firms in business are very short as a result they find a little scope of using economies of scale and finding the experience curve effect. Global business with superior technology and long term experience entering into the market and boosting sales leaving narrow market space for the domestic firms to fight for survival. The firms are not being able to survive in the domestic market let alone expand their business into foreign market. But if the policy makers could establish a good business environment and provide adequate support to the domestic firms they could use the advantage of home field and attract the niche markets in the globe using the competitive advantages. To achieve the full advantages of global economy Bangladesh has to improve technical know-how and provide adequate knowledge to the people running business. We need to have change in our education systems so that we will be able to create some knowledgeable business people. Loan can be provided to the entrepreneurs at low interest rates.

Referencing

Why is proper referencing so important?
The world is said to be in our hand. The open sources of information make the scholar very upgraded in their research. We can easily access those sites in the web, and can see all the sources of research articles of the world leading and updated researchers. The open access journals, informations, newspapers, blogs and reviews available in internet are the great sources of knowledge especially for the undergraduate and graduate students. However, it is very important to cite references properly and appropriately in scientific research papers to concede your sources and show the gratitude to the main author. Science progresses forward only by proceeding the other works and researches and trying to improve or doing further research.  However, citing references in scientific research papers indicates that you have done extensive homework and have done the literature review to do an authentic research. The Reference citations also allow the readers to follow up the original research articles to get the detailed information. The sources that need to be cited are not restricted to books and journal articles, but include internet sites, computer software, written and e-mail correspondence, and blogs. So that the referencing is very urgent to make the research articles a decent one that can be useful for others to get the details information of the researches for the further readings.
